For decades, the American Dream was defined by a simple set of milestones: a steady job, a house with a white picket fence, and the promise that the next generation would have it a little better than the last. But as we stand here in 2026, looking toward America’s 250th birthday, that old blueprint is changing. The world has moved faster than the old models could keep up with.
We are entering the era of the American Dream 2.0.
This isn’t about leaving our history behind; it’s about taking the grit, the operational discipline, and the unshakeable belief in what’s possible: the very things that built this nation: and applying them to the frontier of tomorrow. It’s about bridging the gap between “Patriotic Capital” and “Frontier Technology.”
Welcome to the first official blog post of EricAlexanderDeGroot.com. I’m Eric, and I’ve spent over 40 years at the intersection of international trade, real estate, and strategic advisory. Today, I want to share the vision behind Friends of The American Dream (F.O.T.A.D.) and how we are building a secure, self-reliant foundation for our nation’s future: and for all of humanity.
The Strategic Catalyst: Why This Mission Matters Now
I launched my first venture in 1982. Back then, success required raw grit and a “boots-on-the-ground” mentality. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of advising Fortune 500 companies, working with the FBI, and consulting for municipal advisory committees on international relations.
What I’ve learned through four decades of enterprise is that the engine of the world is still the American Dream. However, that engine needs a tune-up. We need to move from a labor-based dream to an ownership-based dream.
Through F.O.T.A.D. Ventures, we aren’t just looking at past achievements. We are looking at high-potential, dual-use innovations that strengthen our industrial base. We are looking for ways to align private investment with the national interest. Why? Because when we build a stronger, more resilient America, the whole world benefits.
The Six Core Pillars of F.O.T.A.D.
To achieve this “Dream 2.0,” we have identified six core pillars that serve as the framework for everything we do. These aren’t just categories on a website; they are the building blocks of a mission-driven life and business.
- Patriotism
In 2026, patriotism has evolved. It’s no longer just a sentiment; it’s a vital brand asset. We believe in “Patriotic Entrepreneurship”: creating homegrown solutions that reduce our dependence on fragile global supply chains. It’s about integrity, national revitalization, and purpose. - Innovation
Innovation is the bridge to the future. From blockchain and cryptocurrency to advanced manufacturing, we identify technologies that enhance sovereign self-reliance. We believe innovation should serve the people, making complex systems like finance and housing more transparent and accessible. - Entrepreneurship
Small and medium-sized businesses are the backbone of our economy. My journey from a 1982 startup to a global strategic advisor taught me that entrepreneurship is the ultimate tool for personal and national freedom. We support the builders and the dreamers who are ready to take risks for the good of the nation. - The Arts
A nation is defined by its culture. Through Art Delivers™, we celebrate the creative spirit. We believe that the arts are essential for fostering community unity and expressing the hope and purpose that drive the American spirit. - Sports & Travel
An active lifestyle leads to a sharp mind. Having completed 19 marathons and working as a certified ski instructor, I know that discipline and curiosity are cross-border traits. Travel broadens our perspective, while sports build the resilience needed for the boardroom. - 55+ The Next Chapter
The American Dream doesn’t have an expiration date. We are dedicated to helping those in “The Next Chapter” leverage their decades of experience to mentor the next generation and continue building meaningful legacies.
Claiming Your Slice: The Mini American P.I.E. Campaign
You might have seen the #MySliceOfThePIE hashtag popping up. This isn’t just a catchy slogan; it’s a three-phase initiative designed to drive public momentum. P.I.E. stands for:
- Patriotism
- Innovation
- Entrepreneurship
The Mini American P.I.E. Campaign is our way of engaging the “grassroots” of America. We are building a subscriber base of 250,000 people (honoring USA250) to show decision-makers on Capitol Hill and in Fortune 100 boardrooms that the American people are ready for a renewal.
We are forming national bakery alliances and high-impact media outreach because we believe that everyone deserves a “slice” of the dream. Whether you are an investor, a small business owner, or a patriotic citizen, there is a place for you in this movement.
Art Delivers™: The Heart of the Mission
While the P.I.E. campaign focuses on the economic and innovative engines, Art Delivers™ is the soul. Our charity and giving endeavors are rooted in the idea that prosperity is hollow if it isn’t shared. By supporting the arts and community-driven projects, we ensure that the “Dream 2.0” is inclusive and uplifting for everyone.
It’s about more than just wealth; it’s about value. We want to deliver a message of hope and purpose to the American people, proving that our best days aren’t behind us: they are being built right now.
A vibrant community mural being painted by a diverse group of people, featuring scenes of American history and future technology blending together, symbolizing the Art Delivers mission.
